Celestisms
Today Derek and I were laughing at some of the comments that Celeste throws at us. Here are just a few.
Here’s her argument for eating less lunch so that she could have some cake for a snack:
“ Mummy, if I eat ALL my lunch then it’ll be too much. And if I eat too much, I’ll get sick. If I get sick, you’ll have to take me to the doctor and that will make you sad, so I can’t eat too much lunch.”
About blowing her nose:
“I already blew my nose with Daddy but if you want to blow it too, I don’t mind.”
After being told “no”.
“That’s not a good reason!”
Comments about schoolmates/school:
Celeste: “ I hope [Child X] doesn’t come to school today”
Kim: “Why honey?”
Celeste: “ She only wants to hold my hand and I don’t want to hold her hand”
Kim: “Tell her you’d rather not hold hands”
Celeste: “She still does it. I hope she’s not there, then I won’t have to say anything.”
***
Celeste: “I played with [Child Y] today. I sat next to her. She moved, but I just sat closer.”
Celeste: “I yawned in school today. The teacher said I could rest when I go home. (In an exasperated voice) “I’m not tired, I don’t need to rest, I was just yawning!”
Discussion about buying something:
Kim: “I’m not buying it. We don’t need it and I don’t have the money to buy it.”
Celeste (in a reasonable tone as if explaining the obvious to someone): “Daddy will give us the money for it. He can go and work and give us the money and then we can buy it.”
About sharing the TV:
“First I have to watch two of my shows mummy, then you can watch one of yours. A short one. Then it’s my turn again.”
Comment on the size of something with raised eyebrows and tone of voice to match:
“It’s enormous!”
“Never mind mummy, never mind. It’s not important.”
On making mistakes:
“It’s ok to make a mistake mummy.“
