This year we celebrated Thanksgiving in San Diego with an old friend and her husband.
We flew in on Sunday 20th and stayed the week, returning home on Saturday 26th. While we were initially looking forward to going to Disneyland California, it turned out to be a 2 hr drive from where we were staying so on Monday we opted to go to Lego land California 20 minutes away. The kids loved it! Celeste went on almost all the rides that height restrictions allowed including small roller coasters. Brendan had a ball investigating everything he could in Duploland, the area for small children. We did a tour of the Lego Factory and saw how Lego bricks were manufactured and packaged. Celeste liked Lego land so much that she asked to go again on Tuesday.

We couldn’t visit San Diego without going to the famous San Diego Zoo but I must say that I was disappointed. Miami Metro Zoo seems more accessible in terms of the animals being in a more natural environment. San Diego has the animals in cages so they are in closer proximity but it’s actually harder to see them behind the security cages and of course it made picture taking difficult.

We spent the rest of the week relaxing except for a short shopping stint on the day after Thanksgiving. Before we knew it, it was time to fly home. On the return trip Brendan gave us, and all the other passengers, a taste of how loudly and determinedly he could scream when he wants to sleep. He has gotten into the habit of going to sleep after twisting around on his bed a few times. Unfortunately that wasn’t possible on the airplane and he objected as loudly as he could for about an hour. Everyone was grateful when he finally fell asleep. This year we have a lot to be thankful for and by the end of the return flight I was truly thankful to be heading home with a quiet baby.
