Kim had her chemo port removed from her chest today. For those of you that don’t know what this is, the port is a small device that was implanted in her chest when she first started chemotherapy. This is where they hook up her chemo pump that delivers the drugs.

The doctors in FL had originally wanted her to keep it in for another year just in case she needed more chemotherapy. This would have required she continue to have it flushed once a month. When we moved to TX and she met with her new oncologist, he asked her if she wanted it removed and she jumped at the chance.

Kim still has to do a follow-up colonoscopy next month. It doesn’t seem that long ago, but next month would be one year since we first discovered that Kim had cancer.
